He’s a mediator. Diplomacy is his thing, and it’s a good trait. But there are certain realities in the Middle East, namely decades of proposed treaties with the Palestinians that haven’t worked.

I’m not happy to continue bad Bush policies either. I like Bush’s tough talk actually, but nothing will change until the Arabs want change so we need different strategies. I don’t know what those are, of course.

In read his books, and watched him in action and I’ll give you that he’s naive. He thinks you can rationalize with irrational leaders. i.e. he really believed he could sway bad guys to do good things.
