re: #221 Walter L. Newton

I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing snow in Paris, even as many winter trips I’ve taken there. I was in Warsaw for almost three weeks in Feb. one year, and there was almost a daily does of flurries, kept a nice, safe layer of white on everything.

Long term forecasts say that Europe is in for a snowier and colder winter this year, so, next month, if I’m lucky, I may get my snow in Paris.

If snow in Warsaw impressed you, snow in Krakow or Prague will stun you.

Neither of those cities were destroyed in the war and winter there is just unreal. A few miles out of town and you see the landscape of Dr Zhivago.

I know winter is winter, but in Europe, it’s different.

I can’t explain it.
