As you are probably aware, Iowa has been losing Representatives, as its population has not grown with the national growth rate. So King’s district today is rather large in area, covering parts of the state that formerly may have not been so atavistic.

Wikipedia has a set of district maps from 1973-present. Back in 1973, Iowa had six districts. Today they have four.

Steve King’s district includes Council Bluffs (the large city opposite Omaha) and a whole lot of rural area.
