Those people are the worst imho, because they were gambling with other people’s lives. I never saw someone espouse that opinion who was truly at risk such as immigrants facing deportation themselves. It always came from those on the safe side of the comfort divide.

I have seen it among not-so-well-off younger folks who are convinced that we are headed to hell in a handbasket anyways, so that the sooner we wreck the economy, the sooner we can rebuild it all new and shiny and free of any of the previous faults and failures that led to its previous demise…and did I mention the rainbows and unicorns?
