One approach is to not put a limit on the upper income that can taxed for the SS payroll tax.

And, the retirement age has not yet been changed the amount you state, I believe; it’s a proposal. There was a change in early retirement, IIRC. A while back I posted a link to the SS trustees’ latest report, and that will have the answers. But now I have to run out the door… will have to look at this later.

The bottom line is that the current payroll tax may have to be increased, a little. It doesn’t have to go up much to get SS a few more decades.

I’m pretty sure that as the rules are right now, you receive lower benefits if you begin claiming them at 65, versus if you can defer filing for benefits until age 70.
