It’s because the right has convinced itself that environmentalism of any kind is a commie plot to achieve redistribution of wealth and limit freedom.

Just like the suggestion that the government should act to limit the amount of salt in processed food. I expect to see tea-partiers holding salt eating competitions anytime now…

I happen to use salt more as a topping than a seasoning. Seriously, I go through a can of Morton’s each month! (My neurologist says I have some kind of sodium drive, but I don’t remember the details.) I’m not a doctor, but I always thought salt only stayed in the body temporarily, as opposed to suger, which gets metabolized to fat.
