Let’s parse this a bit:

1) Given that he was in captivity for 5 years, what critical information would he have after, say, the first 2 months?

2) If he had value as a collaborator, wouldn’t the Taliban have been more likely to keep him?

3) If he had value as a collaborator, wouldn’t they have kept him a bit healthier?

4) If he was a collaborator, why would he have attempted to escape?

I guess they think this is a real live version of Homeland.
