In Texastan, where the GOP had significant victories in the state elections, there was a drive on to recruit hispanic Republicans.

Looking at who ran and won in that effort, it looks like the GOP can successfully run candidates with a Mexican background if they also happen to by rather theocratic.

As with the GOP’s successful black candidates, appealing to the hyper-religious is a way around the racial barrier.
