If I were Satan, I wouldn’t be dorking around with the small stuff. I’d go straight into maximizing the suffering.

I’d be doing the math for the drug dealer on the corner on how much more he could make if he started selling that teenage runaway as well as crack.

I’d be whispering into that traveling businessman’s ear (the married one, the father) that his wife will never find out what happens out of town, knowing that even if she doesn’t, this marriage will never be what it would have been.

I’d spend some time lovingly convinced that woman with clinical depression that this world would be better off without her. It wouldn’t; her family will actually suffer for years over this, but the mentally ill don’t process these things correctly.

I’d make sure that someone failed to notice the sex offender moving in next to the family. I’d make sure that that mom and that dad gambled away the last of their self-esteem as well as the rent.

No penny ante stuff for me.

How about walking down the street making all the parking meters immediately expire regardless of the time left on them?
