One thing conservative authoritarian regimes do right away is round up the critics (that includes news media, comedians, artists, musicians, &c). I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a little of that in Mr. Baldwin’s thinking.

I doubt Baldwin cares about that. It would be draining playing someone you hate frequently. I suspect he’ll be back at very unique moments. It’s also that Trump has gotten kind of predictable.
