Oh lawd. When I got that nonsense, I’d ask what part scared them— the part where they could actively and freely speak out against Bush/Cheney without the possibility of being arrested or killed for it, or the part where they weren’t at risk of being drafted to go fight a war they objected to.

I definitely had my objections to Bush/Cheney and to a lot of their policies, but that kind of sniveling fear was just a bunch of drama queen theatrics, IMO.

I always tell people: “I know folks who’ve lived in police states, and honey, this is not a police state.”
