That’s surprising, given Walmart’s treatment of its workers at times seems to give conservatives that funny feeling in their pants (low wages for max corporate profit, no unions, etc.)

Because Sam Walton isn’t his kids.

While Sam was a live, working for Wal-mart was actually a good thing. Sam hated unions, but felt that the best way to prevent unionization was to ensure workers didn’t want or need them. Employees got decent benefits - and ask someone who worked then about the stock options for everyone.

You can see the break if you get the right data. It happens about a year and a half after Sam died.

Not to say Walmart was great back then, but then and now are totally different places anyway.
