What might be more meaningful is to ask why you would believe adding a woman to the Rep. ticket would be helpful?

1. I think R strategists are wary of the GOP too obviously appearing as the party for old white Christian men. A racial minority (Rubio or Allen) or a woman (Bachmann) are obvious choices.
2. Pretty clearly broadens the demographics of the ticket to the other 51percent of the country (although Romney does better than all the other candidates with female voters already).
