I think ‘fiscal conservative’ is a dumb phrase because it implies a simple axis. I’m in favor of single payer health care because I’m a fiscal conservative. I’m in favor of a guaranteed minimum income because I’m a fiscal conservative. Yet most would say those are opposed to fiscal conservatism.

That’s because conservatism in general has been hijacked and redefined by the Axis of Stupid of AM talk radio, Faux News, and the RWNJ blogosphere.

As long as that’s true, we can’t have a serious discussion on what fiscal conservatism is. Once you start talking about it, the usual derptards show up and flap their faceholes about ZOMG SOSHULISM and the evils of the IRS, Obamacare, and TYRANNY.
