re: #217 brookly red

OT, my house phone just died so I plugged in the 30 year old princess clone I had to call Verizon and guess what the couldn’t pull up my records… hmmm going dark ain’t all that bad.

I miss phones that had actual steel bells in them. My grandmother had three really old bakelite telephones in her house that she’d had for ages. Aside from being aesthetically wonderful, they were heavy. They rang with authority. I remember the speaker in the handset as being remarkably hi-fi. I wish I knew what happened to her phones. I’m not sure if they’d still be usable these days (I know next to nothing about landline teleco technology), but I’m certain that they’re still at least capable of functioning. They were made before anyone had thought up the idea of engineered obsolescence.
