If Brietbart is alleging something, I have a very strong instinct to disbelieve it because of his terrible track record. Also, I’m not good at telling when people are actually guilty or just acting guilty, so I tend to give the benefit of the doubt; like with Sanford, I thought he was cracking up or had some sort of personal crisis, rather than the more mundane yet baffling “I had an affair with a woman I’m calling my soulmate now”.
