re: #221 Gus
Yeah. How unusual. A near death experience conversion story from a “former atheist” turned United Church of Christ reverend. Pumped up with pain killers no doubt, he has a lucid dream. Eventually they performed surgery on him which is what saved his life. If that lucid dream converted him he’s perfectly welcome to his own conversion. It is not however a model for all people and simply works as a sales gimmick for the already converted.
More likely he was a Sundays-and holidays Christian rather than an atheist, had a two-Tylenol fever rather than a near death experience, and rest of the story was “encouraged” out of him after his conversion.
I’ve never met a evangelical fundie who was slightly bad and then found the light: in their own retroactive accounts, they’re all DeSadian depraved perverts until they were saved.
