While the cops are tied up there, they can’t be other places. Just waiting around for a guy who’s killed four people already to decide he’s had enough, or to line up a shot, or come up with some sort of plan, doesn’t seem wise to me. The use of tear gas to get him out seems completely fine to me. I hadn’t known that tear gas grenades can start fires, but fires are not some instantly lethal thing; you can get the fuck out of a fire.

Agree, some are saying he had a choice of suicide, or burning. He also had a third choice to leave the cabin, hands up, white flag surrender.
He made his choice and I have no sympathy whatsoever for him.

However, this whole case deserves some examination and discussion
