re: #235 Targetpractice

It’s easy to sum up the lack of an ACA “alternative” from the Repubs: They don’t care.

To expand on that, they have never agreed with voters that the old system was broken or flawed. They actually object to the idea that there is a lack of access to care, because they believe that if an ER cannot turn you away for lack of insurance or ability to pay, then you have access to care and the system works. You avoid the ER because you can’t afford to pay the bills that you’ll incur? Doesn’t matter, you have access because the ER is required by law to at least stabilize you before dumping you on the street with a bill. Can’t afford the care/drugs that the ER doc prescribes? Doesn’t matter, you got seen by the doc, thus you have access to care. That critically necessary surgery will bankrupt you and have debt collectors chasing your ass until Judgement Day? Fuck you, you have access, now stop whining.

Any “alternative” would have to start with the acknowledgment that the system is broken and needs to be fixed so people are not forced to choose between debt or death. And that’s just not something they’re prepared to accept.

This is because the RepubliKKKlan Party whose Real God is Ayn Rand wants the sick, elderly, disabled and weak to die. They want to cull the herd and if millions of people die, they will say it is God’s Will…
