A ridiculous argument by Mehta. He says there has to be a link between thought and action while dismissing Vought’s article in which he defends a Christian college firing a professor for wearing a Hijab (as a show of solidarity with Muslims facing discrimination) as mere opinion. Vought wrote and publicly published his defense of religious discrimination, which means he took an action in defense of a bigoted action. Given Trump’s campaign promises to institute a complete and total ban on Muslims entering the country and his (thus far) legally indefensible executive orders targeting Muslim countries there’s every reason to believe Vought was implicitly chosen for his position because of his professed animus towards Muslims. Only an abject idiot would give a guy like that the benefit of the doubt.
