Thing is, when I look at what Dominic Cummings did, as far as not following quarantine rules in seeking to make arrangements for his family, his actions don’t seem that out of the ordinary, at least to me living here in the US.

That’s because it really isn’t. The fact that there is actual national outrage over a politician committing a relatively minor rules infraction during a time of crisis is evidence of what can happen with a press that is willing to hold people to account. It can happen in the US too, but only to Democrats, because that’s the agenda of the national media.

It’s also evidence of some sense of national solidarity and a belief in the common good, which, despite the severe problems the UK has right now, still exists in some form there. And the fact that basically all of America refuses to participate in something similar for the good of their neighbours is evidence of the lack of the same things here.
