Poor John Kerry. He gave an honest, if absurdly inartful, answer, and will forever be the poster boy for waffling as a result.

I mean, couldn’t he have just said “Well, I changed my mind because I realized I was wrong”? Noooooo he had to go and say “I was for it before I was against it.”

That was a serious facepalm moment for me. I can still remember sitting at my kitchen table watching the Bush/Kerry debates, my head resting in my hand, at that moment fully realizing that we would have four more years of Bush because the DNC candidate was about as verbally coordinated as President Ford was physically.
