None of her kids will touch it now.

G-d only knows how she cooked it. (casserole generation)

I bought liver in college for the same reason. $2 for a couple of pounds of liver and a few potatoes and onions would provide me with dinner for a few nights while I waited for my next paycheck. And I made it well.
