This is TOTALLY TOTALLY speculation but the story makes more sense if she was attempting to be a surrogate for someone and it fell through. Seems too hard for a single mom to raise 14 chidren, 8 of which are newborns.

I don’t understand why they emplanted eight embryos. I read somewhere that two is usually the max. Obviously, not all planted embryos will take, but the woman can always try again.

I guess there are no rules, but it sounds like a really stupid thing for the doctors to have done.
