Obviously Litvinenko is Putin’s work, but calling him a journalist is a stretch. Anyway, he was killed because he was seen as an FSB traitor - omerta and all that.

Otherwise I’m not aware of any proven cases of Putin killing journalists.

Yeah, but there are too many deaths which have been slightly too convenient to Vlad & the Kremlin Crew, and consistently so. So while they may be able to fully maintain isolation from the cleaning crews, they can’t quite in terms of the effects of the deaths.
