re: #228 jamesfirecat

So in other words, she’d need to be running a specially modified version of Access in order to get the results she said she did?

Well that sort of thing should be fairly easy to check shouldn’t it…?

No James… Access is a database programming platform, with Visual Basic as the language behind the scenes. It has the ability to work in a full range of complexities, from very simple to a highly organized database management tool and language.

On the simply end, you create a table, tell Access to create a data entry form around the form, and there you have it, a screen (form) to add/deleted/modify data in a table. And Access will automatically take care of the data flow, including always saving data etc.

On the complex end, you can design and control everything that is happening in Access using the Visual Basic language and the form and report designer tools. You can control WHEN data is save, when data is deleted, when data is modified, when data is rolled back to a earlier version… in short, Access can be used (and it is) a professional database management programming platform.

Nothing special, nothing modified, the off the shelf Access does this.. I have worked for numerous middle sized firms, as an Access programmer, where the whole business is run on custom designed Access applications.
