I’m not fretting all that much, but whoever did pick “Geronimo” for OBL should have put a little more thought into it, given the US government’s sordid behavior towards American Indians in the past (and to some extent, in the present).

Geronimo may have been an outlaw, but, IMO, he was nothing like OBL.

I doubt there was an implied comparison. Just a name someone came up with. Geronimo is also used as a verb when people take big leaps. Especially when jumping out of an airplane.
