This is the sticking point for me. That health coverage is MINE. Not theirs.

I would agree with you on that point 100%. But I can understand the viewpoint that the government shouldn’t be dictating what is provided in the insurance package.

Why shouldn’t that be between the employer and the employee. The best employees will go to the employers that provide the best compensation.
