Told my dentist I prefer no anesthetics for dental work unless absolutely necessary (I’m extremely sensitive to even the short acting versions). He reluctantly agreed, with the stipulation that if I started to move or jerk then he’d only proceed after anesthesia.

After finishing one session which required drilling extremely close to a tooth nerve, he remarked that I had an extremely high tolerance for pain.

I replied “Well, I have been married over 25 years…”

He started to laugh until getting an epic side eye from his assistant, who happens to be his wife. And all the female employees gave me looks for a while after. My spouse, by the way, thought it was hysterical.
