re #114 ArmyWife:

That’s unfortunate, because the media are doing a successful job right now painting all conservatives and the Republican party as being disciples of Rush. What we need right now is someone to stand up and take Rush on in a public way to demonstrate that he’s just one voice and conservatism is not defined by Rush. It’s probably difficult for Steele to do it since in his role as RNC Chair he has to try and be diplomatic and keep the party coalition together. Maybe John McCain or someone like Rudy Giuliani can do it.

The Democrats and the media would like everyone to believe that Republicans are all like Rush and the far right on social issue, and if no prominent Republican is willing to stand up and take him on, then they’ll succeed.

Rudy would mostly agree with Rush. And McCain? Nobody gives a shit what he thinks anymore. If you would just look around and listen more closely, there are many conservatives, other than Rush, that are saying basically the same thing as Limbaugh is saying; radio heads, politicians, former polititions, people on consevative blogs, as well as myself. There are many “spokesmen” for Reaganism. More than you probably want to imagine.
