Technical/nitpicky point — Rommel was more of a superb tactician. He never served in the role of a strategist, so we don’t know how he would had done.

True. I base my opinion on his work in the desert corps where, in my opinion, he - in the completely cut off situation - functioned as both. But I generally agree.
