I think everyone knows that on both the far right and the far left we can find many examples of hate speech and bad craziness. Which side’s wackos are worse would actually be an interesting discussion. I think that harping on only the bigotry on the far right, and holding it up as an example of what the right wing is, is giving a skewed picture of what conservatives stand for. I would be curious if anyone knows any poll numbers as to what percentage of conservatives, or even what percentage of the religious right agrees with these kind of statements. I know this won’t be a popular comment, but I am uneasy with using this kind of stuff to tar so large a group.

The problem, Effy, is that the main voices on the Right (the McCains, the McConnells, the Boehners, the Grahams, etc.) are afraid to disagree with the crazy fucks at the AFA or FRC because their followers are almost exclusively Republicans…so yes, they’re complicit in this kind of idiocy.
