Yes this the typical right wing opinion. Change the example to something unrelated then argue against it. In fact I believe this mirror’s a quote from an article earlier today…

[Link: thinkprogress.org…]

Anyone who can’t pay is a jerk, freeloader and/or ingrate rather than a fellow human being and citizen. If you can’t pay you don’t deserve fire protection, health care, education, roads. These things are luxury items for the well off… Right Rogue?

Did the homeowner neglect to pay for the fire protection after being repeatedly reminded? Yes.

Did the homeowner set fire to his own property out of negligence? Yes.

Last year I paid almost $1500/mo in insurance because welding sometimes causes fires. This guy wasn’t poor, He could afford the $75/yr, he was lazy. He didn’t refuse to pay it or couldn’t pay, according to him he just forgot even though he received reminders. He just assumed he’d get covered even if he hadn’t paid.

Show me where I’ve stated anything that was unrelated to this issue. Someone mentions the word “privatize” (even though the word isn’t relevant to this issue) and the left goes nuts.
