Well, no. They weren’t very high-profile. Now they are. The black-bloc guys tend to flock to what’s cool. Halloween also used to be a chill event, now it’s all stabby and shootey.

My point wasn’t at all that this happens every year, but that it’s a well-known bunch that’s doing the rioting, and I think they’re drawn just because there’s lots of media attention for it now, rather than it somehow springing out of Occupy. I don’t think Occupy radicalized anyone.
