Some can’t or won’t trust Iran ever, short of a more secular government than the split they have. The embassy hostages, the recent coup/fake election in 2009. The ongoing extreme rhetoric. The decline and abuse of the jewish population such as it is. I have a dear Iranian born and raised friend that insists the religious side of the government is not to be trusted at all ever in international agreements.

How can we tell who is motivated by the above vs by *gasp” seecrit Muslim Obama?

Ok? You haven’t given a good reason why people motivated by the former should be given more weight than people who assess a situation rationally (like I would believe our intelligence services are doing).

There are going to be irrational people on every topic but I don’t understand why they should be allowed to drive our foreign policy.
