I was in my teens in the late 60s. I don’t remember that kind of talk being as open as it is now. And of course, the ‘net feeds it, so it makes it more predominant. That is a change that I am talking about. And of course Fox News and wingnut radio all makes the problems more glaring.

Plus, I am not trying to be definitive, just talking about how it all feels. It feels different to me.

There were riots in the streets; the National Guard patrolling a block from my family. The 60’s saw assassinations of major political figures — John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy. There was a huge upheaval in the established order — women and minorities were finally getting some access, and many in the establishment did not take kindly to this.
