re: #210 mmmirele

Was looking for docs for a lawyer friend of mine in NYC who wanted to know more about the Thedacare v. Ascension case (aka “those seven employees you hired, we have an injunction to keep them from being onboarded as employees”). Here’s a Tweet with the email Thedacare sent out to its staff.

Also, r/antiwork started up a GoFundMe for the seven so they could go ahead and quit working at Thedacare even if they weren’t able to go straight to Ascension.

There is a hearing on Monday at 10 am. I expect it’s going to be ugly. People are *pissed off*.

Realistically, this shit shouldn’t go past Monday. Thedacare’s CEO badly played his hand, between refusing to make counter-offers when his employees informed him about being hired by Ascension, trying to work over the hiring director at Ascension to give him “more time” instead of beginning to screen and hire replacements, and then waiting until the day before they were all supposed to begin the on-boarding process to file for an injunction. His whole legal strategy now amounts to begging the court to put the kibosh on the whole thing because his hospital’s stroke recovery department will lose Level II accreditation if he lacks staff to be open 24/7/365, while effectively accusing Ascension of maliciously poaching his staff in order to hurt his business.
