Colorado used to be a flaming red state and people said the same about it. There isn’t much difference between the two state’s geography besides Wyoming being a bit colder.

But there is a big difference in population: Colorado is about 10 times as large and it can be hard to attract those accustomed to living in a larger more diverse community, with friends and perhaps family, to such a small homogeneous state where they aren’t as likely to find those of similar backgrounds or interests.
