I have this notion that Obama looked at the Romneycare and Heritage plans, and figured they stood a better chance in Congress than a single-payer plan, being masterminded by Republicans. I also have the notion that he — as a rational man — had no idea how FUBAR the GOTP is, and that its vehement opposition of the law after passage caught him off guard.

Nothing he has done has met with any kind of approval, even grudging approval, from the extreme right wing. They simply hate his guts.

Definitely and I think if he had known what he does about them that he does now that he would have been more ambitious. I see a lot of people try to MBF and go “Well ACA got no Republican votes” to which I respond “Yes and yet this plan resembled their plans much more than Democratic ones of the past.” ACA really was the moment where I knew that Obama could literally do nothing to please the GOPers in Congress and in the media.
