You can really see how the tradition of the incumbent party going second is hurting Willard tonight. The GOP played their hand and are now watching as the DNC shreds it in front of them, one card at a time.

The glaring difference is sincerity. The DNC so far has been people speaking from their hearts. The RNC was almost entirely thinly veiled bullshit, their entire convention was based on a deliberate lie about Obama’s “you didn’t build that,” line. Watching the DNC it’s clear that the speakers believe what they’re saying, speaking truth instead of constructing a false narrative. The Republicans were speaking lies to a crowd happy to swallow and regurgitate those lies.

There’s also a glaring difference in optics. The RNC was anemic, overwhelmingly white, old and angry. The DNC is has a huge, fired up, diverse crowd that’s happy for their candidate and party, not merely motivated by hate.
