O'Malley's putting me to sleep, and he just started.
64 | researchok Tue, Sep 4, 2012 6:59:24pm |
You know what bothers me most of all?
The idea that somehow, this president and his administration are somehow illegitimate.
I don't care how upset people get at the president's record on the economy, job creation or foreign policy- that criticism comes with the territory.
There have been great presidents, lousy presidents and average presidents, all determined by the eye of the beholder and history
Nevertheless, to declare a president illegitimate, less than worthy or less patriotic or ineligible to hold the office is an outrage.
I can agree or disagree with a whole host of Obama policies (and I do) but I will never say, imply, hint at or even remotely suggest this president is illegitimate. He is not and he is not what that suggestion or declaration of illegitimacy implies. While this is not much different than the morons who still clam Bush stole the election from Gore, in reality this is worse.
Oh sure, lots of GOP types pretend to be civil but they are play acting- they have to respond to the lunatics in their districts. They have to respond to the anti science lunatics in the hope they will get that $50 donation and pray that the likes of that lunatic bottom feeder Ralph Reed will focus his attention elsewhere.
The whole thing sickens me.
Rant over.

The PACS have spent $100 million, and Romney is barely managing to keep up. Money can't buy you love, Willard.
They have all the money they need to buy airtime, but not enough to buy a convincing message.

The glaring difference is sincerity. The DNC so far has been people speaking from their hearts. The RNC was almost entirely thinly veiled bullshit, their entire convention was based on a deliberate lie about Obama's "you didn't build that," line. Watching the DNC it's clear that the speakers believe what they're saying, speaking truth instead of constructing a false narrative. The Republicans were speaking lies to a crowd happy to swallow and regurgitate those lies.
There's also a glaring difference in optics. The RNC was anemic, overwhelmingly white, old and angry. The DNC is has a huge, fired up, diverse crowd that's happy for their candidate and party, not merely motivated by hate.

Back in 2008, I never got a tingly leg. I avoided listening to Sarah Palin. 5 months later I finally listened to her speak. It was the Katy Couric interview. I was ashamed of myself for voting for McCain/Palin. You know how I was back then. I never felt a tingly leg over McCain. I never shed a tear. Tonight, I shed a tear watching the intro to Michelle. You know. My leg is kind of tingly tonight and I'm glad for that. I used to get rushes thinking about great political platitudes and great speech or rhetoric.
