That is one thing that is stopping from getting a Master’s degree in English.

A lot of programs, at least with respect to MFA programs, offer student teaching positions or research assistant positions that end up covering the cost of the degree. Like with a creative writing MFA you end up teaching some intro level creative writing classes, or you help a professor with whatever project they have, and your tuition is covered.
