You miss my point.

Hacking email accounts is identity theft. It’s immoral and illegal. And it is somehow not at all part of the narrative to the right. The story is the bullshit allegation that the data was fraudulent. The data was not only legitimate, but the way in which the code was stolen is no big whoop to those attempting to smear the good name of these scientists.
