I’d hoped for one of the Castro brothers to be out there running this year, so to see Julian being treated as a serious VP choice tells me they have bright futures in the party.

The DNC has been grooming Julian Castro for higher office for years. I’m convinced the whole reason he was chosen to keynote the Democratic Convention in 2012 was because they were planning on running him for governor in 2014, which obviously didn’t happen. It’s no accident that he left for DC right after Wendy Davis won the state Democratic primary for governor. They got him out of Texas and gave him exposure to the how the federal government works, which he wasn’t going to get in another mayoral term.

Whoever gets the nomination would be stupid to pass him up as VP. He’d be a great choice.
