That really was my first guess since Bess was the first lady of a President that had been President well before the president’s own presidency and was also of an opposite party. I’m glad to see the push back but for the Reagan worshpiers, it won’t matter even if Ronnie did not do the same thing himself. Hell I bet you can find examples for first ladies where no President of First Lady went. I doubt Grace Coolidge had anyone form the Eisenhower administration come to hers.

From what I’ve read, the only modern president to attend a FLOTUS funeral was Kennedy going to Eleanor Roosevelt’s funeral, and that was because the families were friends.
