Understanding, of course, is that one unstated reason for right wing support for Israel is to define American Jews as not Americans, but instead as foreigners/outsiders.

The main reason is because the religious whackjobs need a reunited Israel with its capital in Jerusalem in order to kick-start Armageddon and fulfill their end-times prophecies.
