Heh — part of the Hollywood-crap in the movie was showing “Rommel’s book” on Patton’s nightstand. The title on the cover was twisted to refer to tanks/armored warfare.
Rommel had been an infantry commander on the WWI Italian front — mountain infantry, IIRC. The book he wrote was titled (something very close to) “The Infantry In Attack”
Any military commander that DOESN’T study the works/writings of potential or real enemy commanders should never be given any responsibility for commanding troops in battle.
