I hope they keep him alive for the same reason. Far better to show he’s not an Islamic extremist than let the RW noise machine use this to foster more hate.

Another good part about him being caught alive is it weakens (read not eliminates) the chances of this being made into a conspiracy theory. It’s going to happen regardless but if he’s caught alive, it will be harder for idiots like Jones to claim the crazy shit they will if he’s killed.
