Yeah, but it’s Mitch McConnell: he’ll just walk out the corner and wipe his shoes on anyone who complains (or the nearest reporter) - since when has public opinion, in general, ever mattered shit to this guy?

The only way I can see Sen. McTurtle allowing witnesses in the Senate trial at this point is if he thinks he can manipulate the process to bolster Trump’s “case”; i.e. get Hunter (or Joe) Biden in to be insulted and accused on TV, or whatever: since there really is no “defense” for Trump’s actions, little/nothing they can do at this point - other than deflect, obfuscate, bullshit, lie and insult can help.

McConnell has been historically pretty bad far as approval, hasn’t he? And yet he still persists and still wins because even if the shit he pushes, promotes, and muscles through is about as popular as he is, he’s still a Republican leader, and Republicans never pay any actual consequences. Too much of the country simply cannot suffer liberals, Dems, “the other” to live and thus will crawl on hands and knees over barbed wire and napalm to spite us, thus McConnell can do almost anything with impunity and the GOP will never suffer for it.

IOW, I’ll believe he’ll pay a price when I see it and not a moment before.
