Not necessarily. It’s certainly possible that the presence of a gun would have scared the others off. It’s also possible that they would have attacked him anyway and gotten the gun away from him. It’s possible he might have gotten scared and shot four or five people. It’s possible that people in the crowd would have been armed and shot him.
It’s all a crapshoot in any individual analysis. The argument about gun control can’t be balanced on the back of anecdote.
